Today we went to York, NE to see Carlyn at the hospital. We were to meet Ed and Bonnie there at 2pm. Just after we turned on to US81, they came up behind us and followed us to the hospital.

Carlyn was setting up in a big chair and seemed pretty comfortable. She said the trip from the bed to the chair was quite painful, but a part of the therapy. Her surgery nurse is the wife of the Mayor of Polk, so they all know one another as Carlyn grew up here. All in all, I think she is doing quite well and they will transfer her to a nursing home in Stromsburg, a lot closer to Polk and much more convenient for Mike. That may happen next week.

After our visit, we went to a nice restaurant called Chances R. This is really a nice place with a formal dining room, bar and regular dining area, where we were. Evelyn and I had a Reuben(sp) sandwich which was quite good, maybe the best I have had in a long time.

After eating, Mike went back to the hospital, Ed and Bonnie went to Stromsburg to visit some friends and Evelyn and I went to Radio Shack and on to Wal Mart for some shopping and then back to Polk.

The photo is of Ed Pearson, myself and Ed's brother Dick. He is just getting used to his power chair as he has trouble getting around and is getting ready to go into an assisted living place in Genoa, where he has lived and worked for many years. This was taken one afternoon when we were our cruising the town and going to eat at the Great Plains Cafe.
