Still hot today, was in the low 90's with a heat index of 110-115, really hot. We took a tour of the downtown main street, all 2 blocks of it. Went to the bank,
the Post Office and the hardware store. That is about all there is, oh there is the Sportsman's Bar and Grille and the Senior Center. A really nice clean little town.Had a little mishap last evening, the Drew's were here to play Mexican Train and as they were leaving, Carlyn turned over her scooter and broke her right hip. They took her to the hospital in York, NE and she will have surgery in the morning at 7:30. We wish her well in the surgery as well as the recovery. Mike says she is resting well, under sedation.
Tomorrow we will go to Central City to do laundry and eat at the local DQ.
Our photos are from the tractor show last Saturday. The first photo is of a nice group of restored John Deere tractors. The second one shows an old John Deere, probably from the early thirties, I would think.
The last photo is of a trailer load of hit"n"miss engines. Called that because the engines spin the big flywheel and as it slows down the governor opens the intake valve for a charge of fuel and it fires spinning the flywheel up to speed. It may not fire for several more revolutions, depending on the work it is doing. The green one is a John Deere and I am not sure the make of the middle one, but both are
water cooled. The one on the left, the red one, is a smaller engine but it is air cooled as you can see the fins surrounding the cylinder. All were just chugging along, doing their thing. We have seen engines of this type running oil well pumps, however I am sure they were a bit more powerful, but the same type of engine. They run a long time on a little bit of fuel.
