Monday morning we were up and off to Columbus, NE for an appointment at 11am to get some work done on the van. Naturally it took longer than they anticipated. We were out and back on the road by 2pm. We stopped at a grocery and then back to the ranch. We visited with Ed & Bonnie later and put a file cabinet together for Dick.

Later that evening we had ice cream as Dick and his friend Jane came over to join us. A very enjoyable evening just visiting with them all.

Today, we went to visit the Assisted Care unit where Dick is moving, later this month. It is very nice and I think he will like it. There are several people there that he had known for many years, so he will feel welcome and at home. He just can not handle living alone in a big house. Later went downtown to the Great Plains Cafe for lunch. They really do make good tenderloin sandwiches outside of Indiana and Illinois. After lunch we visited the Indian School that was operated by the government from
1884 to about 1934 when they closed it. They took Indian children, as young as 5 years old and taught them English as well as a trade where they could work and make a living when they were older. They had a blacksmith shop, harness shop, tailor shop, bakery, printing shop as well as other vocations to learn. There were banners from many of the tribes that were represented at the school. At one time there were 599 students in the school.

By that time it was mid afternoon and time to get back and take a nap.

Our photos are of the local Courthouse and the "cabin" where we are parked. Not a log cabin with a dirt floor I was led to believe we would be visiting, but a really nice place to get away from the rush of the big cities.
