Last night we were at the Shady grove Campground. A nice place with gravel/grass spaces and only a few blocks from the interstate. Parked next to us was an Alfa See ya and towing a neat little red
Smart car. I had always wondered if they would not make a great little toad. It looks weighted down bu the tow bar on the front, but it is really a neat little car and very easy to tow.

This morning we drove to Colorado Springs, CO taking US24 off of I70 and getting our first look at the mountains. The terrain has changed from farming to ranching with lots of cattle and not very much hay. We did see a group of Antelope along side the road. You do not see much of any other wildlife as a lot of their habitat has been converted to pasture land.

We have noticed a change of altitude in the last couple of days. We were at 2000 ft in Hays, KS, 4700ft at Siebert, CO and today at 6200ft at Colorado Springs. We have not encountered any long grades, just gradual inclines, but a lot of downshifting out of overdrive.

We are here for 3 nights and will do some touring of the area tomorrow, Thursday and Friday.
