The weather the last few days has been improving and today it was quite nice and warm. I had a CT scan today and see my Urologist tomorrow and that will finish all but 2 appointments for this year, unless the scan reveals some surprises.

We have been watching the Para Olympics on TV. What a great group of athletes they are. The swimmers that do not have any arms, maybe only one and maybe no legs, but they are all in there doing their best for their country and themselves. I have enjoyed the wheelchair basketball. A far cry from the team we started back in the early 60's. Most of our players were Post Polio's, some with upper body weakness, but we did our best. We were one of the first teams in the country. U of Ill had a team and I think one on the west coast, maybe UCLA. Today, they are really muscular athletes. The chairs are all custom built for a particular sport. The rugby chairs are similar to basketball chairs but with more protection. The racing chairs are a thing of art and are just so fast. It is a pleasure to see these people have the opportunity to do their best in their chosen sport. They are an inspiration to all of us, disabled or not.
